John Olsofka

Dr. Olsofka is a native of Kentucky and did his general surgery training at the University of Louisville. He is a fellow with the American College of Surgeons and Clinical Instructor with the University of Louisville. He has been with the practice since 1999 and with clinical and research focus in advanced laparoscopy.

Dr. Olsofka has a specific interest in Laparoscopic Bariatric Surgery and has helped pioneer one of the first Lap-Band only bariatric programs in the nation and has performed over 1200 laparoscopic band procedures. The bariatric program is nationally recognized as a training center for Lap-Band surgeons. The center now accommodates three Bariatric surgeons and performs 10 -12 Lap-Band procedures a week on an outpatient basis. Dr Olsofka manages every aspect of the bariatric patient’s care as well as the business aspect and patient recruitment for the Lap-Band program. Dr Olsofka is currently involved in the multiple nationwide, prospective studies on the Allergan AP Lap-band. (APEX)

Dr Olsofka has developed on-site training clinics for laparoscopic inguinal and ventral hernias and is a nationally recognized speaker on advanced minimally invasive hernia surgery. To date he has performed over 325 laparoscopic inguinal and over 800 laparoscopic ventral hernia repairs.
