Joseph M. Blandford, Jr.
Dr. Joseph M. Blandford, Jr. was born and grew up in Louisville, Kentucky. He graduated from the University of Louisville with a Bachelor’s of Science degree, and then attended University of Louisville School of Medicine and graduated in 1974. He served his surgical internship and residency at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Florida. He finished in 1979, moved back to Louisville and has been practicing here in Louisville since then. He had Rodney D. McMillin, M.D. join him after practicing solo for about three years, and still works closely with him to this day. After establishing Blandford & McMillin, P.S.C. over the next few years, his group combined with Dr. Francis Todd Gardner’s group, and formed Louisville Surgical Associates. Dr. Blandford is certified by the American Board of Surgery, a Fellowship of the American College of Surgeons. He has served on the board of Southwest Hospital as a trustee, and board of the Portland Museum. His practice in the past included vascular surgery, general surgery and endoscopy. For the past twelve years, he has adopted advanced laparoscopic techniques. Dr. Blandford is President of Louisville Surgical Associates. His special interests have included traveling around the world and music. He has six children, four grandchildren, and lives in the Louisville area.
